Healthy Forests for Everyone
Background—
In the lead up to Earth Day, 2018, The World Wildlife Fund asked us to help them develop a short informative piece that could live on social media and the web to highlight the differences between conventional and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forestry practices.
Solution—
We brought WWF’s script to life in a simplified illustration style that celebrates the iconic beauty and diversity of a healthy forest while encouraging an understanding that the solution to unhealthy forests—thankfully—is itself simple and approachable. By being aware of the many benefits of FSC certification and why it’s better to buy products that are FSC certified, we all can make a big impact on the health of our forests, the people who work in them, and the planet.
Disciplines—
Design
Illustration
Animation
Color Story—
What struck us most in developing the color story for this piece was how impossible it was going to be to capture the diversity of color inherent to a healthy forest—even in simplified form—with a limited selection of colors. The sheer number of greens that exist in nature is astounding.
